Position Overview
We seek a Cloud Engineer (AWS) with Administrative Expertise to architect, automate, and manage robust cloud infrastructure while ensuring operational excellence. This role bridges engineering innovation with administrative rigor, requiring you to design scalable solutions, enforce security, and optimize systems in alignment with DevOps practices. You’ll collaborate with Agile teams, drive CI/CD pipelines, and leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to deliver resilient, cost-effective AWS environments that power critical healthcare applications.
This position is remote eligible.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Optimize Cloud Architectures: Architect, deploy, and refine AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, RDS, Lambda, etc.), ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with best practices. Continuously evaluate systems for performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
Automate Infrastructure: Engineer IaC solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or SAM to automate deployments, reduce manual intervention, and enable reproducible environments.
Secure & Monitor Systems: Implement proactive security measures (GuardDuty, IAM, encryption) and automate monitoring/alerting via CloudWatch, ensuring compliance and rapid incident response.
Enable DevOps & CI/CD: Collaborate with developers to build CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, CircleCI), streamline code deployments, and foster a DevOps culture for rapid, reliable releases.
Cost & Resource Management: Optimize cloud spending through rightsizing, reserved instances, and budget automation while maintaining performance SLAs.
Operational Support: Provide daily administration for AWS environments, including troubleshooting, patching, backups, and enforcing SOPs for change management.
Multi-Cloud Integration: Explore hybrid/multi-cloud strategies (Azure, GCP) to enhance system flexibility and redundancy.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Translate technical AWS capabilities into business value, advising stakeholders on cloud adoption strategies and modernization efforts.
Requirements
Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate required; AWS DevOps Engineer or SysOps Administrator certifications are a plus.
Education: BS/BA in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Cloud Experience: 4-6+ years in cloud engineering, including 2+ years hands-on with AWS (designing, deploying, and managing production environments).
IaC & Automation: Expertise in Terraform, CloudFormation, or SAM for infrastructure automation.
Scripting & OS Skills: Proficiency in Shell/Python scripting and Linux administration.
DevOps Practices: Experience with Agile frameworks, CI/CD tools, and containerization (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
Communication: Ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced Certifications: AWS DevOps Engineer Pro, Azure/GCP certifications, or vendor-neutral credentials (e.g., CompTIA Cloud+).
Serverless & Containers: Production experience with AWS Lambda, Fargate, or EKS.
Healthcare Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, or other regulated environments.
